Asbestos Pleural Disease

The pleura are the membranes that line the lungs, allowing breathing to take place within the chest cavity. When prolonged asbestos exposure takes place, tiny fibers get into the chest cavity and become lodged in the pleura, disrupting its functionality and making breathing difficult and painful.
