The cost of battling an asbestos related illness, without taking into account the loss of wages for a patient who can no longer work, can be crippling. However, in recent years, thousands of lawsuits have been heard by the courts, charging negligence on the part of companies who allowed their workers to be exposed to the dangerous mineral asbestos. Many of these lawsuits have been settled out of court.
